What is Pharmacode?
Pharmacode (also known as Pharmaceutical Binary Code) is a compact numeric barcode used in the pharmaceutical industry on medicine packaging and tamper-evident labels. It encodes numbers from 3 up to 131,070 in a small, printing-error-tolerant pattern and is read by specialized pharma scanners - it is not a retail barcode and cannot be read by ordinary supermarket scanners.

Why Pharmacode is different
Pharmacode is not a normal retail barcode. It encodes a single number in a pattern designed to survive the printing on plastic film and foil used in pharma packaging, and it is read by purpose-built scanners on filling lines. It has no quiet-zone requirement in the usual sense and tolerates overprinting - which is exactly what a production-line label needs.
Pharmacode in packaging control
Pharmacode's main job is automated line control: a code on each carton lets the line verify the right pack is in the right bundle and counts units automatically. Because it is read close-range by pharma scanners, print size is flexible, but the code must match the number your line-control system expects for each product.
